EVERYDAY SMOOTHIE BOWL

Photos, video, and words by The Bukit List

Hey there, Kitchen Ninjas. Here’s a smoothie bowl recipe we love that’s super easy to make and it’s dirt cheap, too. You can make like five smoothie bowls at home for the price of one at your favorite Bali cafe, so it’s a win-win-win for yourself, your friends & family, and your wallet.

Not only are smoothie bowls pretty to look at—they’re super delicious and healthy, too (but you already knew that). This Everyday Smoothie Bowl is a staple at our house. We could seriously eat them every day…and we often do!

Here’s what you’ll need for a single serving (feel free to double, triple, or quadruple the recipe)…

  • Blender
  • One cup of frozen bananas (we peel, cut, & freeze overripe bananas, so they’re always on-hand when we need them) (~5k Rp)
  • One cup of frozen Berries (purchase from Nirmala or Green Habit) (~5k Rp)
  •  A dollop of coconut cream (~3k Rp)
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 tsp of flax seeds (optional) (~2k Rp)
  • Your choice of toppings (we used coconut flakes, oats, raisins, sliced strawberries, sliced bananas, cashew bits, and fresh mint) (~10K)
* (total cost for ingredients: ~25k Rp)

Add the frozen bananas and frozen berries to your blender. If they’re stuck together, break them up a bit to save your blender.

Add the coconut cream and the water, then sprinkle in the flax seeds. Blend everything up. If you’re using an everyday residential blender, you might need to give it a quick rest every 15 seconds or so until you’re done so it doesn’t overheat. Frozen fruit can be  tough on blenders. You can add a bit more water if you need to loosen things up.

Once everything’s all blended, pour your mix into a bowl. Stick it in the freezer while you cut up your fruit so it can firm up some more, then sprinkle on your toppings and enjoy!
