We are certified couch potatoes here at the Bukit List, and proud of it. There’s really nothing quite like finding a new show that hooks you in—whether it’s the unexpected plot twists, the quirky characters, or just the sheer awesomeness of escaping into another world (with snacks in hand, of course. Because snacks are half the fun). Here are some of our favorites lately:
Oh. My. God. This show is so good. It’s sharp, witty, and brilliantly written—everything you want in a dark comedy. Based on Carl Hiaasen’s novel, it’s got everything: quirky characters, a murder mystery, Florida weirdness, and a literal monkey (who might just steal the show).
Vince Vaughn not only stars as the disgraced detective-turned-restaurant inspector Andrew Yancy but also had a hand in producing the series—and it shows. His comedic timing is spot-on, but he also brings a depth to Yancy that makes him more than just a sarcastic, washed-up cop. And let’s talk about Natalie Martinez—she’s absolutely magnetic as Dragon Queen, a woman you do not want to mess with. The whole cast is stacked, and we devoured it in record time. Bring on Season 2!
Post-apocalyptic chaos has never been this much fun. Based on the iconic video game series, Fallout is a sadistic ride through a retro-futuristic wasteland. Walton Goggins is an absolute standout (as always), playing a ghoulified cowboy with a dark past. The show balances humor, action, and heart in a way that feels fresh and exciting. We binged it, loved it, and are now counting down the days until Season 2.
Mind-bending doesn’t even begin to describe this one. Severance is a masterclass in suspense, with a premise that’s equal parts fascinating and terrifying (what if your work self and your home self were completely separate?). Adam Scott’s portrayal of Mark, a man grappling with his fractured identity, is both haunting and relatable. We’re still recovering from the Season 1 finale and haven’t started Season 2 yet, but it’s next on our list. If you’re into psychological thrillers, this is a must-watch.
Okay, we know we’re late on this one, but wow—we totally get the hype. Ted Lasso is the feel-good show we didn’t know we needed. It’s funny, heartfelt, and full of characters you can’t help but root for. Jason Sudeikis as Ted is a revelation—his relentless optimism is contagious, and the show strikes the perfect balance between humor and emotional depth. If you haven’t watched it yet, do yourself a favor and start.
This one’s a lighter watch, perfect for when you just want something easy and entertaining. Ted Danson shines as a quirky, lovable con artist who somehow always lands on his feet. It’s got a fun premise, enough twists to keep you hooked, and a charm that makes it perfect for background bingeing. We kinda binged it while doing other things, but it’s definitely worth a proper watch.
Another easy, feel-good show that’s perfect for a lazy afternoon. Kristen Bell and Adam Brody are an absolute delight as a mismatched duo navigating their way through a hilariously awkward situation. It’s cute, funny, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. We breezed through it and enjoyed every minute. Sometimes, you just need a show that’s pure, uncomplicated fun, and this one delivers.
This one’s a gem. Based on the bestselling novel, Lessons in Chemistry is a beautifully crafted story about resilience, ambition, and breaking barriers. Brie Larson is phenomenal as Elizabeth Zott, a brilliant scientist turned unlikely TV chef. Her performance is nuanced and powerful, and honestly, this role restored our faith in her after all that bad press. It’s heartfelt, inspiring, and visually stunning. If you missed it last year, now’s the time to catch up.
This show is a hidden treasure. It’s got drama, intrigue, and a killer cast. Billy Bob Thornton is magnetic as a ruthless oil tycoon with a moral compass that’s… questionable at best. Ali Larter plays his gold-digging on-again, off-again ex and she’s full of brilliant laugh-out-loud one-liners—it’s our favorite Ali Larter role, hands-down. Jon Hamm and Demi Moore also have small roles in the show as well, and we hear they’re likely to have more screen time next season (the show hasn’t officially been renewed for another season, but it’s highly likely — we’ll update this most when we know more). We finished it recently and were genuinely sad when it was over. The storytelling is tight, the characters are compelling, and the pacing keeps you hooked from start to finish. Highly recommend.
Where do we even start with this one? It’s hilarious, messed up, and absolutely brilliant. Danny McBride (who also created and wrote the show) is a comedic genius as Jesse Gemstone, the eldest son of a dysfunctional televangelist family. The Gemstone family is a trainwreck you can’t look away from, and the show breaks so many rules—but it works. It’s funny, scary, brutal, and everything in between. We’re late to the party (again), but we’re so glad we finally showed up. Season 4 is slated for release in March 2025 and we cannot WAIT!
Now that we’ve binged our way through this list, we’re on the hunt for our next obsession. Got a show you think we’d love? Let us know! Drop us a line at info@thebukitlist.com. We’re always looking for recommendations (and excuses to order more pizza).
